Quick Snapshot in Chinatown

It just happened that I passed by Chinatown last Wednesday and I remember that S3P is having some sort of photo contest which theme is regarding Celebration. I was also really curious what really to expect in Buddha Tooth Relic Temple. It was my first time to be there. Although, they strictly forbid people from taking photos inside the temple, thus the exterior is actually quite stunning.  I am now actually planning to take architectural photos soon. Well, since this particular month they are celebrating the Seventh Lunar Month or Hungry Ghost Festival, they actually placed around the temple some offerings for the unseen beings. They have believed that giving something like food to them, the ghosts will not bother or will not bring jinx to people. Continue reading Quick Snapshot in Chinatown

After a long wait and giving way to the PIDC 2013 event, we finally had this get together. Apparently 45% of S3P members participated in this event. We had Patintero, Pinoy Henyo, Cheering Challenge, etc. Although we (my group) did not win any, we all enjoyed the event. Kudos! to Mr. Yeng Regidor & Ms. Kutz Sape, and the rest of the S3P admins for organising this wonderful get together.

To celebrate this year’s May 1 Labour Day, S3P formulated a challenge among its members that signifies its meaning. Many of them used their handphones as some never brought their DSLRs around. Luckily I brought my D7000 & 35mm. We went to Pulau Ubin to check on things to capture for this challenge. We had biking adventures in Pulau Ubin and roamed the mangroves. We even had games like Pinoy Henyo, Calamansi Games, etc. Continue reading S3P’s Labour Day in Pulau Ubin

Well since I got no appointments and it was my birthday, we decided to book tickets for this event called Tokyo Auto Salon 2013. This event was held in Singapore Marina Bay Sands EXPO and Convention Centre. There were a lot of cars, modified and dressed up, showcased in the event. Many participants showcased their versions of Nissan GT-R (well we saw a lot of this car). A popular J-Pop group was there too, although I was not able to take some nice photos of them since a lot of photographers, both local and foreigners, swarmed the place, and I wasn’t able to get enough room to frame them. Thaipusam 2013

I was not really aware that there this kind of event for among Indians (mostly by Tamils) which commemorates the occasion when Parvati gave Murugan a spear which they call it “Vel” so he could defeat Soorapadman who is pure evil. The festival is celebrated every full moon in the Tamil month of Thai which is usually on either January or February. The word Thaipusam is actually derived from “Thai” which corresponds to their month, and the name “Pusam” which means star. Thaipusam is celebrated in Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, & Myanmar. Continue reading Thaipusam 2013

Anime Fest Asia 2012

I just saw one advertisement in Clubsnap that Anime Fest Asia will also be held in Singapore. I was too curious what was that really about and I just realized that it was an event for all those Cosplayers, both locals and foreigners. It was a three-day event which is held in Singapore EXPO. So I went on a Sunday to check on those people who loves Anime. Continue reading Anime Fest Asia 2012
