Streeting with My New Lumia 1020

I was so happy to acquire this new imaging beast which I believe so far is the best camera-phone that exists in the world. I invited Rhoel to do some street shots in Haji Lane, Singapore and here are some of the photos which I took: Continue reading Streeting with My New Lumia 1020

Quick Snapshot in Chinatown

It just happened that I passed by Chinatown last Wednesday and I remember that S3P is having some sort of photo contest which theme is regarding Celebration. I was also really curious what really to expect in Buddha Tooth Relic Temple. It was my first time to be there. Although, they strictly forbid people from taking photos inside the temple, thus the exterior is actually quite stunning.  I am now actually planning to take architectural photos soon. Well, since this particular month they are celebrating the Seventh Lunar Month or Hungry Ghost Festival, they actually placed around the temple some offerings for the unseen beings. They have believed that giving something like food to them, the ghosts will not bother or will not bring jinx to people. Continue reading Quick Snapshot in Chinatown

Melaka Trip 2013 (Day 2)

I tried to capture as much scene as I could on my last day in Melaka. Focusing much on Jonker Walk, I have even tried their food specialties, and bought some goods & souvenirs. I would probably be visiting Melaka again as I missed out taking photos of those popular landmarks and Portuguese and Dutch ruins and artifacts. Continue reading Melaka Trip 2013 (Day 2)

Arab Street Photowalk

Red Eye sent me a message just this afternoon if I could join for a street shoot. Since I still have no experience taking pictures in Arab Street and Little India, I agreed. Rhoel joined as well while I & Red Eye just finished taking some streets pictures in Arab Street. Some people really don’t like their pictures being taken. Well, on the other hand, some are happy when someone takes his picture. One lady actually yelled at me and asked why I was taking her pictures secretly, as if I did it in a “pervert”-way. Thaipusam 2013

I was not really aware that there this kind of event for among Indians (mostly by Tamils) which commemorates the occasion when Parvati gave Murugan a spear which they call it “Vel” so he could defeat Soorapadman who is pure evil. The festival is celebrated every full moon in the Tamil month of Thai which is usually on either January or February. The word Thaipusam is actually derived from “Thai” which corresponds to their month, and the name “Pusam” which means star. Thaipusam is celebrated in Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, & Myanmar. Continue reading Thaipusam 2013

Orchard Road Street Photowalk Feb-12

Glenn just bought a camera, Pentax K5, and he actually want to try it out. So he  invited me to go on a Sunday Photowalk in Orchard and Somerset Area. Doing street photography is really a tough job. I really didn’t had the guts to personally approach the person on street and ask his or her permission to take a photo. So what happened was I took stolen and candid shots of people who are walking around Orchard. Continue reading Orchard Road Street Photowalk Feb-12
